The above is an example of a closed rise curved staircase structure with a White American Oak finish. The plasterboard finish to the underside accentuates the sweeping lines of the stairs. All Palladian’s come with an option to take plaster board to the underside, during fabrication we make provision for the plasterboard to be attached and finished by others.
This is a spectacular example of a Signature Palladian steel stairs. The contrast between the cherry solid timber steps and the brushed stainless structure is beautifully complimented by the stainless steel and glass balustrade. The standard Palladian is manufactured from mild steel and can be finished to whatever colour requested.
The Signature Stairs Palladian step can take a number of different forms in terms of timber type but also in shape. Steps can have either open or closed risers and be fully or partially clad depending on the particular end-look the client wishes to achieve.
The installed ‘primed’ mild steel finish can be painted to a colour of the clients choosing ensuring the steel stairs is seamlessly incorporated into the overall design of the house. In the above project the client finished the stringer with a matt white paint thus highlighting the warmth of the oak steps and the contrast with the ‘Elegant’ stainless balustrades.
Not only is the Signature Stairs Palladian available in an open or closed rise it may also be curved as in the project illustrated above. The curved staircase threads are clad with 20 mm solid White American Oak and Signatures ‘Aghadoe’ laser cut stainless steel balustrade are combined with ‘Elegant’ guard railing to the first floor.
The above picture shows the Palladian structure prior to the timber thread being added. The mild steel stairs structure, and in this case mild steel laser cut balustrades, are all primed ready to take finish colour by client. The exposed structure illustrates how solid a structure the stairs is once installed.
The straight flight Palladian is most suited for the stainless steel and glass balustrades but in the curved staircase example above we have utilised our ‘Helical’ high brushed finish stainless balustrade. Combining parallel flat uprights with vertical solid round bar infill the Helical railing is an ideal curved balustrades option. While the above project is finished with a curved stainless handrail we also offer an engineered solid timber curved staircase handrail option.
As with any of the stainless steel & glass options the railing can be finished with the standard ‘round’ stainless handrail or replaced with a matching timber handrail if required. Clients often feel the timber handrail provides a ‘softer’ look to the finish.
The Palladian steel stairs represents a modern twist on a traditional style. With a fabricated metal structure, open rises and stainless steel & glass balustrades, Signature Stairs stamp their mark on an old design.
The robustness of the metal structure offers the client the choice of open or closed steps and unlike similar traditional timber options Palladian steel staircases do not require cumbersome timber supports. The steel stairs structures are filled, sanded and primed ready to take a finish colour by client.
Suitable to be finished in any of the balustrades from the Signature Range, the Elegant or Glenflesk stainless steel and glass infill options are generally chosen. As with any of the stainless steel & glass options the railing can be finished with the standard ’round’ stainless handrail or replaced with a matching timber handrail if required.
